Mental Health and Crisis Support Resources
This page lists a number of suggested mental health and crisis support services to help you find help quickly.
It includes 24/7 helplines such as Lifeline, SuicideLine Victoria, NorthWestern Mental Health Triage, and specialist services for family violence and sexual assault, along with dedicated supports for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. There are also non‑crisis options for adults, men and young people, plus trusted resources from the Australian Psychological Society, Beyond Blue, the Black Dog Institute and Headspace.
Crisis and emergencies
Lifeline - 13 11 14 - is staffed by trained volunteer telephone counsellors who are ready to take calls 24-hour a day, any day of the week from anywhere in Australia. These volunteers operate from Lifeline Centres in every State and Territory around Australia.
SuicideLine - 1300 651 251 - is available throughout Victoria 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the cost of a local call (mobiles extra). Interpreters can be arranged for non-English speaking callers.
NorthWestern Mental Health Triage (CATT) - 1300 TRIAGE (1300 874 243) - for mental health crisis assessment and treatment for people living in the North West region of Melbourne. Call 24 hours, 7 days a week for help with mental illness.
The Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service -1800 015 188 - is a 24-hour/7 days a week telephone service providing support, information and accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
Centre Against Sexual Assult (CASA) - 1800 806 292 - is a free and confidential 24 hour emergency or crisis care service is available for victims/survivors who have recently been sexually assaulted. This includes crisis counselling support and may include access to
medical care and legal processes.
13Yarn – 13 92 76 - 13YARN is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders crisis support line. Available 24/7.

National Alcohol and Other Drug hotline (DirectLine) - 1800 888 236 – Victoria's free and confidential 24-hour counselling phone line
MensLine Australia - 1300 78 99 78 - is a professional telephone and online counselling service offering support to Australian men. 24 hours/7 or chat online.
Youth non-crisis helplines
Kids HelpLine – 1800 55 1800 - Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free (even from a mobile), confidential 24/7 online and phone counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
HeadSpace - 1800 650 890 – Headspace provides free or low-cost, confidential support to young people aged 12–25, focusing on mental health, physical health, alcohol and other
drug use, and work or study support. HeadSpace provides telehealth support via phone or
online chat.
Headspace also provides in-person mental health support. They have multiple in-person

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) - 1800 800 320 – Mental health service for young people aged 12-25 in Melbourne’s north and west. That includes the areas of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Hume, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Merri-bek, Moonee Valley and Wyndham. They have a 24/7 mental health triage team.

Drummond Street Services
Drummond Street offers a wide range of non-crisis supports designed to enhance mental health and family functioning. Its services include child counselling and support for mild to moderate emotional and behavioural difficulties, family and parenting programs to
strengthen relationships and support positive development, and intensive family counselling and case management for families facing complex challenges.
